American Idol’s Sanjaya Malakar sang his own rendition of Tony Bennett’s “Cheek to Cheek” sporting a slicked back do. Admittedly, it was kind of boring but that’s only because absolutely nothing beats the Sanjaya’s ponyhawk.

Tony Bennett loves him. Simon said he was “incredible!” Even Rose McGowan loves Sanjaya!! And Zach Braff too!! Sanjaya fever is sweeping the nation!!!

• Randy said, “I can’t even comment on the vocals anymore. What I like about you now is that you’ve turned into a great entertainer. You’ve got the different hairdos every week. You’re dancing with Paula. He’s an entertainer! He’s ready!”
• Paula said, “He is an entertainer! I get why people love you. You’re charming. Vocals were a little off at the beginning but I understand what Tony says. You’ve got this charm about you. And I love the suit. But thank you for the dance.”
• Simon said, “Let’s try a different tactic this week. INCREDIBLE!”

Ferl’s 15 minutes of fame continues!

Sanjaya’s biggest fan, aka Ashley Ferl, is riding out her 15 minutes of fame for as long as she can. The 13-year-old posed for cameras in an exclusive photoshoot in New York City last week.

While in Los Angeles this week before, Ferl made it to a taping of American Idol and couldn’t hold back the tears during Sanjaya Malakar’s rock-out performance of The Kinks‘ “You Really Got Me.”

When Idol producers noticed the dramatic waterworks, they invited the young fan back to the results show, where she got got to meet all of the Idols.

“I got all their autographs,” she enthused. “I got earrings from Paula Abdul. They’re like hearts.”

Ashley’s favorite contestant from season 4? Fran Drescher double Mikalah Gordon.

I hope they invite Ferl back to the finale when Sanjaya performs!

As expected, Sanjaya is safe!!!

American Idol’s Sanjaya Malakar sang his own rendition of No Doubt’s “Bathwater” and sported the FUNKIEST HAIRDO TO DATE — A PONYHAWK! Part-mohawk, part-fauxhawk, part-BEAST!!!!!

• Randy said, “Dude, I’m speechless. Every time. It’s weird, you got the dog speechless. The hair is definitely interesting. I like the kinda mohawk look. At the end of the song, you sang that one long note at the end and you sang a little run. You actually can sing if you just put it out there.”
• Paula said, “If you had the gumption. If you had the ability to totally go for it, it would fit the wackiness of the fauxhawk. To watch you on stage and not go for it, we’re kinda like come on, you can do it.
• Simon said, “I presume there was no mirror in your dressing room tonight. I don’t think it matters anymore what we say. I genuinely don’t. You’re in your own universe and if people like you, then good luck.”

And in response to Simon’s comment regarding his ponyhawk, Sanjaya quipped, “You’re just jealous you couldn’t put it off.”
