Selena Gomez leaves MTV Studios after being interviewed in NYC on Thursday.

The 16-year-old Wizards of Waverly Place star said she feels no pressure in being a role model to kids because she is confident of herself and her upbringing.

“I don’t feel any pressure. I’m pretty confident in who I am and who my parents are… I know I’m going to do the best I possibly can,” Selena said on The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet.

Selena currently has no boyfriend but, “I go on dates and have crushes and stuff,” she says. “Right now, my crush is Shia LaBeouf. He is cute and a great actor.”

Selena Gomez gives photographers a wave in her bright yellow dress as she tries a few outfits for her New York press tour on Wednesday in Hollywood.

The 16-year-old actress also flashed a peace sign as she excited the Mike and Juliet show in New York city on Thursday. She also stopped into the MTV TRL studios and went out into Midtown, NYC with VJ Damien Fahey.

Selena Gomez checks in at LAX airport and then arrives at JFK wearing a ‘We all scream for ice cream’ t-shirt, black fingernails, and carrying a Blackberry and iPod, on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, the 16-year-old Wizards of Waverly Place star denied there is a feud between her and Miley Cyrus.

“It’s just the media wanting something to talk about and wanting us to fight…and there’s nothing there to talk about,” Selena said.

The reports of a feud followed a Youtube video of Miley and Mandy Jiroux imitating a video of Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.

When asked at JFK what music she was listening to, Selena smiled and said, “Miley Cyrus.”

Selena Gomez sat down with Extra! to talk about her reported feud with fellow Disney star Miley Cyrus. Here’s what the 16-year-old Wizards of Waverly Place star had to say:

On the untruth behind the reported rivalry between her and Miley Cyrus: “It’s just the media wanting something to talk about and wanting us to fight…and there’s nothing there to talk about.”

On how she deals with false media reports: “Everywhere you go you hear things that are untrue…You just got to learn that if I don’t say it, physically out of my mouth, on camera, it’s not true.”

On how she handles her rising fame: “It’s overwhelming and there’s a lot to think about…to know there are hundreds of kids out there that look up to me. I know that’s a big responsibility. I am also very confident to say that it is wonderful and I’ll do my best that I can do to be the best role model I can be.”

On crediting her mom for keeping her grounded in reality: “My mom’s there to say, ‘The moment I see you get big headed or changing, I will drag you right back home to Texas and we are moving away from here.’”

On what she has downloaded on her iPod: “On my Ipod right now is my best friend Demi [Lovato], Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Jonas Brothers. Then I actually got Miley’s new CD. I really like her CD.”

The 16-year-old Wizards of Waverly Place actress was seen with her purity ring and continued rocking out her scarves and wearing them everywhere she goes!

Disney’s up and coming tween queen Selena Gomez dons a rocker angel chick look during a photo shoot on Wednesday at a beach in Malibu, Calif.

The Wizards of Waverly Place actress, who celebrated her Sweet 16 earlier this week, recently signed her first record deal with Hollywood Records, reports E!. An official announcement should be on the way soon!

Rolling Stone recently outed Selena and Nick Jonas as a couple. As a result, blogs have picked up on frenemie Miley Cyrus and BFF Mandy Jirouex’s paraody of Demi and BFF Demi Lovato from March. (Watch Selena’s video here, Miley’s video here, and the combined version here.)

When Selena and Demi were asked what they thought of Miley & Mandy’s parody back in July, they told Popstar magazine:

Demi: “Um, I don’t…know. Like, I don’t know! Cuz I don’t know them. I was…surprised. I was kinda honored, but in the same way, I don’t know!”
Selena: “Yeah, I don’t really know what happened there… but I was surprised about it.”

Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and fellow Disney sensation Selena Gomez have been outed as a couple in the latest issue of Rolling Stone.

“All I can think about is THE PICTURE,” Rolling Stone deputy editor Jason Gay writes. “What could it possibly be? Why would the Disney handler want to delete it? Was it Nick making out with a girl?”

Gay makes his discovery towards the end of the article: “Later that night, I’m finally able to see the photograph. It’s a picture of Nick, Joe, Kevin and yes, a beautiful young brunette in a scarlet-red top. Nick has his arm around the girl’s back, and the girl’s arm is wrapped around his. Her name is Selena Gomez, she’s Demi Lovato’s best friend and a big new Disney star. The genuine affection in the photo is obvious…”

The much-hyped picture, which is published in the mag, shows Nick, 15, hugging Selena, who just turned 16 yesterday. The photo caption reads: “MOUSE MAGIC: Seconds before a show, Nick gets a hug from Selena Gomez, another Disney star, as Kevin, Joe and bodyguard Big Rob look on.”
