Summer Glau joins her co-star David Lyons to promote their new series The Cape during Comic-Con 2010 on Friday (July 23) held at California’s San Diego Convention Center.

The former Terminator actress (in a Corey Lynn Calter “Tina” split sleeve blouson dress) just turned 29 on Saturday. Happy birthday, Summer!!!!!

The Cape received mixed reviews after the pilot was screened for conference-goers. @aperren writes, “Just saw pilot for The Cape, new NBC show. Pilot OK, a bit overstuffed, *might* have potential with time but could see it collapsing quickly.”

@leahalexis adds, “The Cape was surprisingly appealing; kinda choppy initial pacing but pretty charming.”

Summer Glau types away on her invisible keyboard as investigative blogger Orwell in this first still from her upcoming NBC show, The Cape.

The one-hour superhero drama series stars ER’s David Lyons (pictured) as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin) and son, Trip (Ryan Wynott). Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City, Vince becomes The Cape - his son’s favorite comic book superhero - and takes the law into his own hands.

Summer laughed, “We joke because I’m sort of [The Cape's] sidekick that he’s going to have to call me ‘Pashmina’ or something … or ‘Mini Cape’ … ‘Shawl.’”

Summer Glau is coming back to primetime with NBC’s superhero-themed drama pilot, The Cape.

THR reports the 28-year-old actress will play Orwell, “a cute and intrepid investigative blogger who fearlessly goes after corrupt cops and costumed bad guys.”

The pilot centers around a former cop (David Lyons) who is “set up as a criminal and becomes a masked hero, the Cape, to clear his name.
”

Summer has a huge sci-fi audience after starring in Fox’s Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dollhouse.
