Now that the wedding’s on hold, Spencer has to prove he’s really husband material

It was a typical Heidi–Spencer moment as the duo spent Jan. 9 in Los Cabos, Mexico, holding hands and frolicking in front of the cameras. But this wasn’t a trip to scout out wedding spots — or even a sign that their wedding is back on.

In fact, the Hills couple’s engagement and nuptials are still on hold, and their Mexican sojourn didn’t exactly end well. “I’ve been throwing up all night,” Heidi said once she was back in LA. “I just got back from Mexico. I don’t know what I have; I don’t know if it’s food poisoning. I’m just so sick.”

But insiders wonder if it was a stomach bug — or if Heidi’s sickness was really caused by stress over ongoing relationship drama with Spencer. “The wedding planning really broke up the engagement,” an insider says. “Heidi isn’t convinced Spencer understands the meaning of a lifelong commitment.”

Lauren Conrad has set her foot down, clearing up rumors that her boyfriend-stealing nemesis from Laguna Beach Kristin Cavallari will NOT be joining the cast of The Hills next season. Watch the below video, which has a mini-interview with LC and her Hills costars Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.

In related news, Lauren is getting too big for Teen Vogue and may be leaving for a new magazine partner next season, according to WWD.

Although Lauren has helped increase newsstand sales by double digits over the last two years, MTV is on the hunt to mix things up.

“The girls have moved on from Teen Vogue,” a spokesperson for the mag said, declining to say whether or not Teen Vogue will be part of the series next time (which probably means it won’t be).

UPDATE: Whitney reportedly has accepted a job at fashion title W Magazine.

Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag and Brody Jenner get their party on at The Hills Season Three Finale Party on Monday at Area in Hollywood.

During the live after-show at Area nightclub in Los Angeles following the season finale, Lauren had some big news to share.

“The season of The Hills is not over,” she said. “We’ll be picking up soon and you’ll get to see our whole trip to Paris and everything that follows afterwards.”

The Hills has been renewed with a fourth season, reports InTouch.

But some of Lauren Conrad’s friends are being given the boot!

“I have some friends on [the show], some friends off,” Lauren tells In Touch.

The million dollar question: Will ex-roommate Heidi Montag be back for season 4?

The season 3 finale celebration will begin on Dec. 9, when MTV airs The Hills: Lauren Looks Back, beginning at 12 p.m. ET. The Hills Finale: Live in Hollywood will broadcast live on Monday from L.A. hot spot Area, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The finale itself airs at 10 p.m. ET, followed by a live after-show.

The season 3 finale of The Hills will air on Monday, Dec. 10 but not so fast! According to People, the season finale celebration will begin the day before, on Dec. 9, when MTV airs The Hills: Lauren Looks Back, beginning at 12 p.m. ET.

The Hills Finale: Live in Hollywood will broadcast live on Monday from L.A. hot spot Area, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The finale itself airs at 10 p.m. ET, followed by a live after-show, during which the ladies will answer questions from viewers and then make “an announcement that will leave fans wanting more,” according to MTV.

On Thursday, The Hills stars Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge head out for a fun afternoon of LA shopping.

In addition to filling up on gas and picking up a few magazines, the two browsed vintage clothes at LA’s The Way We Wore before emerging with a shopping bag each.

Afterwards, Audrina and Lauren chowed down at Mauro’s Cafe inside Fred Segal’s, while catching up on news with their mobile devices.

Throughout the day, Lauren stayed hydrated and caffeinated with 4 different drinks, chugging a Diet Coke, an Evian, a Red Bull and a pink slushie. Audrina made do with just a water with her meal.

The Hills stars Lauren Conrad (plus a Victoria’s Secret pink dog) and Audrina Patridge walk the VS pink carpet in matching pointy black heels on Thursday at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.

LC, 21 wore a sheer chiffon-y black dress with ruffled straps while Audrina, 22, opted for a shorter off-the-shoulder LBD.

Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag had a secret meeting together the weekend before Halloween, reports Star.

Heidi got into Lauren’s black Mercedes convertible, which was parked in the garage of Lauren’s building.

“They were laughing, hugging and being very affectionate with one another,” says their source. “There were no MTV cameras around. This seemed like the real deal. I saw Heidi coming to visit Lauren at her apartment without her fiancé Spencer Pratt. I think Lauren and Heidi made a secret pact not to tell anyone.”

A preview of Monday’s episode show Lauren and Heidi meeting face-to-face. “I want to forgive you,” Lauren tells Heidi. “And I want to forget you.”
