Dwight’s New Year’s resolution: “I, Dwight Schrute, resolve, in the year 2007, to display more wisdom and benelovence to my inferiors.” Dwight Schrute is played by Rainn Wilson.

Did you all catch last night’s episode of The Office? If not, you better get to somebody who has it TiVo’d because it’s one that’s not to be missed!

When the party planning committee disagrees on how to pull off the office Christmas party, Pam (Jenna Fischer) and Karen (Rashida Jones) band together to throw their own separate alcohol-and-karaoke party against Angela’s (Angela Kinsey) wishes. In the midst of it all, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) copes with his split with his girlfriend by being persuaded to join the guys, Andy (Ed Helms), Jim (John Krasinksi), and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) at a feast at Benihana Japanese restaurant.

I won’t go into it much in case some of you haven’t seen it (don’t want to spoil anything), but do make sure you stay and watch the whole thing from beginning to end. There’s a great gag at the end played on Dwight. That’s all I’ll say about that.

I always think their holiday-themed episodes are really good and A Benihana Christmas is no exception. Here are some promo shots from the production of that episode which aired yesterday.

So yes, things are looking up for the married father of one — even if his TV alter ego is still caught up in the whirlwind of the Scranton-Stamford merger. Really, really cute spread in this week’s issue of TV Guide covering The Office’s romance between Dwight and Angela, played by Rainn Wilson and Angela Kinsey. Of course, the most interesting question is about sex:

What sort of sex life do you think they have?
Rainn: Way hot! I bet Angela wears a cheerleader’s outfit under her austere raincoat. Because of her over-the-top sense of morality, they probably do not have actual sex, but I’m guessing they do everything but. I bet those two are just noshing on each other all the time.
Angela: I imagine they have ea bit of a kinky thing going on since they both enjoy being yelled at. Angela loves that her man is a baron with a clipboard.

The Office’s Jenna Fischer made a guest appearance on last night’s The Late Show with David Letterman. She talked about the killing of fish bait, tapioca pudding, and trouble at the Barbie party — Barbie massacres! Jenna looks so great all glammed up, no? She’s wearing a borrowed black low-cut V-neck Kenneth Cole dress and shoes. From Jenna’s blog: “I decided to go with something a little sexier for a change. I hope I don’t chicken out. When you see it you’ll probably think it’s pretty tame but for me it was a stretch.” Video is on its way below!

• Ryan Phillippe’s first official public statement since divorce announcement: “I’m not a perfect person, but I’m not guilty of a lot of the things I have been accused of. My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family.”

• Tom Cruise is expected to attend the Conde Nast Black Ball at Hammerstein Ballroom tomorrow night. Cruise bought a $50,000 table at the event, which will be hosted by Alicia Keys and Iman.
• Abbie Cornish was a no-show at a screening for her movie Candy. Organizers say it had nothing to do with rumors that she is cause of Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon’s split last week.
