T.I. Goes to Jail

Entertainer/rapper T.I. was setenced to one year and one day in prison based on felony weapons charges, according to MTV.

The plea deal requires T.I. to be subjected to a number of requirement after his prison sentence including: “an audit of his finances, drug counseling, DNA testing and random searches of his property, and he will not be able to own firearms.” Additionally, he must complete 500 hours of community service after jail time. (The terms of the agreement also include T.I. completing 1000 hours of service before jail.)

T.I.: I Don’t Need Awards Like Kanye West

T.I. takes front and center on the other side of the double-sided cover for Rap-Up (Christina Milian is the other cover star).

The 28-year-old rapper reflects on the biggest year of his career, his impending jail sentence, the effect it will have on his family, and how the King always gets his way.

On how his children are going to deal with his time in prison: “My oldest is 12—she understands. She’s strong and smart. The three weeks I was in, before I got to come home, she said to me, ‘Don’t worry. I’ll hold things down ’til you get back.’ I’m more worried about how my boys are going to deal.”

On how the recession has affected him: “I think I’d be selling more houses had the economy been in better shape. I think I’d be selling more records had the economy been in better shape. I’d be selling more clothes, too.”

On what it would take for him to be conceited like Kanye West: “Selling a billion. At about a billion, I think I’d be pretty hard to deal with.”

On winning awards: “No disrespect to Kanye, but that kinda stuff just don’t mean nothing to me. Whether or not I win an award, I mean that’s nice, but at the end of the day I understand that I’m a man. What being a man means to me is not defined by an award or an amount of records sold.”

T.I.: You Can Vote However You Like

The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta and its students continue to attract national attention after performing their Presidential Election Song – “You Can Vote However You Like.” Atlanta’s own Clifford Harris, aka T.I., made a surprise visit to students at the Academy after hearing about the students’ song, which uses background music from T.I.’s current smash hit “Whatever You Like.”

Here are some sample lyrics:

Obama on the left
McCain on the right
We can talk politics all night
And you can vote however you like
You can vote however you like, yeah

Democratic left
Republican right
November 4th we decide
And you can vote however you like
You can vote however you like, yeah

The 28-year-old rapper said, “The conditions of my life that I had endured had presented a certain sense of paranoia, which made me feel like I needed extra security for myself… My best friend [Philant Johnson] had just gotten killed the year before that….he died right in my arms…he was killed right in front me…I was trying to prevent that from ever happening again.”

T.I. also revealed that he lost his virginity when he a mere 11-years-old.

He sheepishly shared with Tyra, “I’m embarrassed, 11, I’m sorry…If it makes it any better we had two kids together later on.”

Check out this exclusive new from the set of T.I.’s new music video “Live Your Life” featuring Rihanna.

According to Us Weekly, Chris Brown cuddled up to Rihanna between takes. Hubba, hubba!

And during a dance scene, T.I. accidentally hit Rihanna but she was a trooper about it. “She just laughed, rubbed her face and rejoined the singing,” an onlooker reports.

T.I.’s latest album, Paper Trail, is sitting at #1 again for the second week in a row atop Billboard’s Top Albums Chart.

The “Live Your Life” music video will debut in two weeks.

Diddy’s Press Play Party

“As we proceed… To give you what you need!” was Diddy’s choice phrase during last night’s “Press Play” listening party at NYC’s Tenjune Club/Lounge (a small horseshoe-shaped dance floor surrounded by two tiers of tables and a DJ-performance stage, where Diddy spent most of his time). I had the opportunity to attend the party, which was a little more low-key than I expected but still was fun nonetheless. Diddy even dedicated one of his album’s songs to girlfriend Kim Porter, who’s expecting twins. Aww!

The album “Press Play” features big names like Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige, Big Boi, Brandy, Keisha Cole, Jamie Foxx, Nas, and Nicole Scherzinger. All of the tracks he played were definitely club bangers — his Bad Boy crew got wild on the dance floor — and bound to be remixed 5000 times before the end of the year. Diddy ’s second single “Tell Me,” featuring Christina Aguilera should already be playing on a radio near you. “Press Play” drops in stores Oct. 17!

In the house to show their support was Nelly Furtado, Lil’ Kim, Sean Paul, T.I. (we sang “Happy Birthday” to him), and Cassie. I snapped a bunch of pictures from the event and even took a photo with choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson (if you’ve ever watched her whip Making the Band’s Danity Kane into shape). Check out the gallery!
