Hilary Duff just happened to be co-hosting when ex-boyfriend Joel Madden was around to promote his Good Charlotte album, Good Morning Revival. The ex-lovers reunited at the MTV Studios in Times Square on Monday for a taping of Total Request Live.

Awkward, much?

Joel and his twin brother Benji performed onstage during TRL while Hilary watched from the sidelines.

UPDATE :: At the GLAAD Awards, Hilary shared about her run-in with ex-boyfriend Joel: “I just did TRL today and Joel was there, and it was the first time we’d seen each other and it was so, like, nerve-racking. I knew that he was going to be there and he knew. It is what it is. I mean, what am I going to do? It’s life. It was a little strange at first, but I wish nothing but good for him and I know that he wishes the same for me. I’m happy and he’s happy and I think that’s all that counts.”

Jake Gyllenhaal works his boyish charm as he drops by MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL) on Tuesday afternoon to chat up his later thriller movie, Zodiac.

What he is doing to his arms, or trying to be, is beyond me. Superhero Jake?

Jake, 26, was interviewed by MTV VJ Damien Fahey at the MTV Times Square Studios on in New York City.

Zodiac opens in theaters this Friday and also co-stars Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Edwards, Robert Downey Jr. and Chloe Sevigny.
