Uma Thurman and fiance Arpad Busson have called off their engagement, People reports.

The 39-year-old Kill Bill actress and her multimillionaire beau ended their relationship nearly two months ago, a source told the magazine, but they will remain friends and Uma will most likely return the engagement ring Arki gave her.

Arki has two sons with Elle MacPherson, and Uma has a son and daughter with ex Ethan Hawke.

Uma Thurman sparkles in a cashmere silver sequined Donna Karan dress on the October 2009 cover of W magazine. Here’s what the 39-year-old actress spilled:

On plans to wed fiance Arpad “Arki” Busson and whether then plan to live in NYC or his home base of London: “I’m happily engaged, but we haven’t set a wedding up. I’m not in a rush to do anything. One day we’ll do it, when we’re ready… We can’t live anywhere else because my children’s’ father lives here. We’ll figure that out.”

On reassessing her life and approaching 40: “I can’t say my 30s were the easiest time. And I had thought my 20s were hard! … You know, that’s the worst mistake a woman can make, to think, Oh, I’m 32 and I’ve had two kids and I’ve worked since I was 16 and now it’s going to get easier. Because as soon as you think that, you’re doomed! You’re absolutely doomed!”

On her regrets: “I feel like I lived my life backwards. Like Bob Dylan said, ‘I was so much older then; I’m younger than that now.’ Getting older has been a process of realizing that I wasn’t as grown up as I had thought. When I was a teenager people often referred to me as jaded or knowing. It’s a classic teen illusion to think you know it all, but I’ve certainly learned I don’t. I’ve certainly learned the hard way.’

Acknowledging that her career isn’t where it should be, partly because she takes projects that don’t require a lot of time away from NYC: “When my son turned seven, I felt myself stand upright and realize that I wasn’t going to be bending over so much. I realized I had been kind of in this position for years! It’s nice to think that everybody’s getting more independent and now I can kind of maybe, slightly selfishly, think about work again…You know, I do care about my work, and it is part of me. And I am a mother, but I need to do what I’m good at doing. You really can’t let go of all of yourself…. Even your kids need you to be who you are… I’ve been living at home for work for a long time. If I don’t leave soon, I’m going to literally choke my career to death.”

Tribeca Film Festival Co-Founder Robert DeNiro and actress Uma Thurman take questions onstage at the opening press conference for the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival at Tribeca Performing Arts Center on Tuesday (April 21) in New York City.

Look at Uma towering over Robert! Uma, 38, is reportedly 6 feet tall while Robert, 65, is reportedly 5′8″.

On her reputation: “I have a reputation for being aloof, but the truth is I’m initially intimidated by people. Get me started though and I won’t come up for air.”

On her recent engagement to Swiss Financer Arpad Busson: “I know a lot will be written about it – most of it untrue I should add. What can I say? I’m excited, optimistic and joyful.”

On her divorce from Ethan Hawke: “It has been four years and I don’t want to focus my life on that. If people want to know what I think of my ex-husband having another child, why not just say that I wish the father or my children all the happiness in the world?”

Uma Thurman is engaged to her Swiss multimillionaire boyfriend, Arpad “Arki” Busson!

“I can confirm she is engaged,” Stephen Huvane told NY Daily News and People.

After Uma’s three-year relationship with hotelier Andre Balazs, the couple started dating. They first met last summer after attending a private dinner together in Milan.

Arki has two sons with former supermodel Elle Macpherson, from whom he split in 2005. This will be the second marriage for Uma, who has two kids, Maya, 9,and Levon, 6, with ex Ethan Hawke, whom she divorced in 2003.

Ethan Hawke and his family celebrate Father’s Day with a casual stroll through New York City on Sunday.

The 37-year-old actor walked through the Big Apple with pregnant girlfriend Ryan Shawhughes and his two kids, daughter Maya Ray, 9 1/2, and Levon Roan, 6. This will be the first child together for Ethan and Ryan.

Maya and Levon’s mother is actress Uma Thurman.

Uma, 38, stars in Motherhood as a mother of two preparing for her daughter’s sixth birthday party. But has no idea of the challenges she’s about to face in order to pull off the event.

Off the film set, Uma is currently in court with French cosmetics giant Lancome over the use of her name and image in an advertising campaign. Lancome is suing the Kill Bill star to stop her from trying to sue them for $1 million.
