A hefty-looking Val Kilmer hits the red carpet for a screening of his new movie, MacGruber, at the Paramount Theater during the South By Southwest Film Festival on Monday (March 15) in Austin, Texas.

“The entire script is kind of designed to ruin my career,” the 50-year-old actor joked during the MacGruber panel.

FYI: Kilmer plays villain Dieter von Cunth, who steals a nuclear warhead from his sworn enemy, MacGruber (Will Forte).

THR says MacGruber is “utterly disposable but diverting.”

The film, out April 23, stars Will Forte as the title character, who fights off his enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer) after he steals a nuclear warhead.

Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe play MacGruber’s team of experts who vow to help him save the country.

NBC has hired Val Kilmer to replace Will Arnett as the voice of KITT in the upcoming revival of Knight Rider.

Variety reports there’s a carmaker conflict. For almost a decade, Arnett lended his voice talents to General Motors — as the voice of GMC Trucks. NBC’s new “Knight,” however, is “played” by a Ford Mustang.

When GM found out about the Ford connection, it asked Arnett to pull out. Busted.

“I was very excited at the prospect of playing the part of KITT in the new Knight Rider movie,” Arnett said. “However, because of a long relationship with General Motors as the voice of GMC Trucks, I had to respectfully withdraw from the project.”
