A shirtless Zac Efron takes you behind the scenes of his underwater shots for Charlie St. Cloud in this new featurette!

The 22-year-old actor shot scenes in a massive underwater tank. “It takes up pretty much the whole stage,” Zac explained. “Underwater, there’s this system…but you can actually hear voices underwater! I have no idea how it works,” he laughed.

“It’s a lot of stuff you wouldn’t have to expect you have to deal with,” Zac continued. “When there’s elements involved like swimming through murky water, getting a certain piece of your vest snagged, very precise movements…it’s hard to hold your breath!”

On his biggest expense: “I always have music on. The other day, I found out my biggest expense isn’t electricity or gas—it’s iTunes. I spend way too much on music, movies, apps, and games. I’ve got to get that under control.”

On his excitement about seeing girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens perform this summer: “Vanessa is playing Mimi in Rent at the Hollywood Bowl in August. It’s the role of a lifetime for her. The song ‘Out Tonight’ is Vanessa in a nutshell—she loves to have fun. She’s a good partner in crime.”

On still being a student at heart: “I start to think, ‘Am I missing out on something?’ I’m not in school at the moment, so I tend to overcompensate by trying to learn as much as I can about everything else, and by tackling life full-on. I’m just soaking up everything I can. I’d like to see the whole world.”

The 22-year-old Charlie St. Cloud dished on learning how to sail, growing his Coachella mustache and had the name of his first crush revealed by mentalist Lior Suchard!

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens hit the red carpet at the premiere of his new movie, Charlie St. Cloud, at the Village Theater on Tuesday (July 20) in Los Angeles.

The 22-year-old actor (in a Prada suit, Gentry tie bar and Ferragamo shoes) plays a young man who must choose between keeping a promise to his late brother or going after the girl he loves.

“[Charlie]’s just something different. I just knew what I had to do personally and that was slow down and really do something that was a challenge,” Zac told the UKPA. “I wanted to do something that was really hard, see how far I can go. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks.”

FYI: Vanessa is wearing a Reem Acra dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and carrying a Ferragamo bag.

Zac Efron throws on a pair of shades and suits up in Balenciaga at the 2010 ESPY Awards on Wednesday (July 14) at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Yesterday, the 22-year-old actor was spotted out at the Dan Perez Baseball Camp in Atlanta, Ga.

Zac met with Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell, signed autographs for fans and showed off his throwing arm!
